Bush is the Lord of the Rings!!!!

Dear Friends:

I started this blog in hopes of writing much more frequently than I do. There is so much of interest happening in the world today, and also tons of new history and archeology being uncovered, that I wanted my own little soapbox to be a true "Citizen Journalist".

I am still striving toward the blog quality achieved by two of my internet heroes: The Anchoress and Ali Eteraz. The Anchoress views the world with a Catholic insight, Ali with an Islamic one. I was hoping to create a web page melding ancient Egypt with current events. But battle plans rarely survive the first engagement.

I was doing my morning blog-hopping, with an excellent cup of coffee, and came across this rather creative webpage: George W. Bush is the Anti-Christ. In the interest of full disclosure, I am a conservative Republican (in a nutshell, I hate taxes, love small business, think good environmental policy is not based on poor science). Curiosity compelled me to click on the link.

My initial responses were two: laughter and envy. Laughter because I don't live and die by which way the political winds blow, and there was a lot on the site that was chuckle worthy. For example, as an historian, the comparisons of President Bush and Roman Emperor Nero. If this webpage is satire, it is one of the most clever examples I have seen. Sadly, I think it is the work of a delusional, obsessive personality.

Hence, my second emotion - envy. I would love to have the time to generate such an stunning page on my pet obsessions. Yet I wish not to wallow in jealousy. Therefore, I will create this blog post as a tribute to all the work for my Bush-obsessed comrade on the Internet.

Top Five Reasons I know Bush is the Ring Bearer:

1) Has anyone really gotten a good look at the "wedding ring"?
2) Bush is constantly being attacked by Orcs and Trolls.
3) Rove and Gollum, separated at birth?
4) The Twin Towers vs the Two Towers - conspiracy anyone?
5) Condi Rice is an elf -- just look at the ears.

Three Rings for the elfin-kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf-Lords in their halls of stone,Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne,In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie. One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in darkness bind them,In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Comments:
George Bush the Anti-Christ? Nope, just can't get there from where this guy is writing from. I suppose that if I consumed mass quantities of alcohol and smoked truckloads of weed I could maybe follow, but then I have a life and a real job. You know, if you stare at the sun long enough you can see Elvis. Just sayin'.....
